As a college student, Carol Fassino spent 100 days in 10 countries around the world, wherein some, she witnessed dire poverty and individuals’ struggles firsthand.
As an adult, she was drawn to volunteer at a fair trade nonprofit, where she learned how selling people-created goods supports artisans and farmers because it provides opportunity for fair pay and safe working conditions while allowing children to attend school.
As a parent, she found herself exposed to years of school fundraisers, selling massed-produced products of unknown origins which didn’t really send the ideal messages to her child.
So as an entrepreneur, Carol wove these three powerful experiences together to create FairTrade Caravans. And set out to Make a World of Difference.
“The funds raised assisted us in expanding the mission of Lasallian Women of Hope, to provide education for girls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We are looking forward to future collaboration.”

“Beyond partnering with a company that puts sustainability and fair practices at its core, it is a pleasure to work with FairTrade Caravans because they make the marketing for our donors so easy.”

“It would be much more meaningful to sell something that’s been handmade in India or Ghana rather than selling a chocolate bar or magazine.”

“I’ve loved every single item I’ve ordered. And it feels great knowing my purchases are directly supporting people in other countries who are making a living for themselves.”
